The 5th grade class at Turner Creek Elementary used FLASH OF FREEDOM in their reading curriculum. "Dakota is a talented student and a great inspiration to her peers," said Mrs. Barksdale, their 5th Grade Teacher. "Her love for writing is illuminated throughout her novel, FLASH OF FREEDOM, as she keeps her readers wanting more. She is a beacon to all young novelists." Her visit is on video at www.DakotaLee.com under the "Teachers Wanted" section.

After reading FLASH of FREEDOM to her class, Rita K. Jeffries, a Middle School Teacher/Literary Specialist in Ohio stated, "It is a moving portrait of a young teen struggling with issues of belonging, friendship, and finding their niche. FLASH OF FREEDOM demonstrates a creative way for tackling big issues of young teens. Simply astounding!"

Dakota Lee was inspired to write at age nine, when her fourth grade teacher assigned the students a "Free Write Journal". Three years later Dakota published her first novel, FLASH OF FREEDOM.

Dakota now visits schools across the country as an Author in Residence. From a teens' point of view, Dakota teaches the fun of reading and the writing process. She inspires students to pursue their passions and goals now while they are young by sharing her story with them.
