Friday is the last day that residents can take old telephone books to any of five City of Raleigh drop-off recycling sites.
Special containers for collecting telephone books have been set up at the drop-off recycling sites. The telephone book collection boxes are labeled with bright yellow banners. Phone books are made of a low-quality grade of paper, and can not be deposited in the boxes designated for other materials. The directories must be removed from plastic bags and placed in the box, not left on the ground.
The City of Raleigh drop-off recycling sites that are accepting old telephone books through Friday, May 1 are:
• Brennan Station Shopping Center, 3005 Brennan Drive, behind the shopping center at the intersection of Creedmoor and Strickland roads;
• City of Raleigh Yard Waste Center, 900 N. New Hope Road. This site is only open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.;
• Jaycee Park, 2405 Wade Avenue;
• North Boulevard Plaza at Mini City in the 4500 block of Capital Boulevard, adjacent to the Food Lion; and,
• City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services Administrative Office, 400 W. Peace St. Open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. only.
