DURHAM, N.C. -

On Wednesday and Thursday American Building Company employees will come to the Durham Rescue Mission to donate their time.

American Building Company, located in LaCrosse, Virginia, is a part of the Nucor Corporation, which is made up of about 20,000 teammates.

Workers say the company hasn't laid off employees in its 43 year history. Like other companies in the building industry, they have seen business drop because of the recession. Instead of laying employees off because they don't have work for them to do, they are letting them volunteer in the community.
