JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. -

A North Carolina minister accused of having sex with a 16-year-old church member has been charged with second-degree rape.

The Johnston County Sheriff's Department said Friday that 47-year-old Joseph Kennedy Ragland faces charges related to an April 11 incident at his home in Willow Springs. Ragland was arrested Thursday and released on a $35,000 bond.

An application for a search warrant says Ragland, pastor at the Church of God in Christ Jesus in Angier, had sex with the teenager three times after telling her to drink beer.

No one answered at the phone number listed on the arrest warrant for Ragland and the voice mail said it was not accepting messages.

I actually have known the man in my past. He was always a man of his word in that time, a man of conviction... It is my hope that these allegations are false but if not he deserves judgement in this case... It would truly shock me if they were true this being the reason... Joe ragland was to me the type of person that would step down from the position of pastor if he was having some serious inner struggles... But I hope him and the alleged victim both grace n mercy....

This news is doesn't suprise me at all. Like most christians, this pastor appears to be a hypocrite and really have no idea what (Jesus)really said- or really did and worst couldn't follow what he truly believed ...even if it was written down for them (So called christians) on a connect the dots map.

Joe say it ain't so. You had so much going for you. How could you destroy your family and church family with such accusations. I know that you are only a man but being a spiritual leader in your community we expect better from you. Then again when you believe that you above God's law anything can happen. If you are guilty may you serve your time in prison becasue you definetly took advantage of your position and those who trusted you. May you get what you deserve.

16's old enough. He must not have got her off too good or she wouldn't have complained. Unless he forgot to pay her also.
