Burt's Bees CEO John Replogle says more people are going green.
"It was pretty clear we've grown out of our space," Replogle said.
Despite the economy the company has seen 25 percent growth in the past year and decided it was time to make a change moving their office headquarters from Morrisville to downtown Durham, bringing more than 50 jobs in the next three years.
"Moving from RTP to Durham will help us connect to the community and fulfill our goal," Replogle said.
They said that goal is to pass on their green initiative with environmentally friendly products, while also helping the revitalization of the area.
Colleen Fargo was hired by Burt's Bees about two months ago.
"We're such an environmentally friendly company and hopefully we'll be able to spread the news about being green," Fargo said.
Replogle said the building itself reflects their green business model. Most of the lumber and steel used to refurbish the building is recycled or reused materials.
"We started as a humble beginning in an abandon schoolhouse...this has the same feel but it's beautifully redone," Replogle said.
Replogle said they're plan is to get involved with everything downtown has to offer while also passing on their green message.
