North Carolina's medical technologies industry is getting together to talk about how to improve profits in a tough economy.
The Council for Entrepreneurial Development holds its Medtech 2009 conference Thursday at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. The conference is dedicated to advances in medical technologies in the Southeast and brings together entrepreneurs, investors, vendors and suppliers.
The keynote speaker is Medtronic Inc. chairman and CEO Bill Hawkins. The Minneapolis-based company makes cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, and heart monitors.
The six other industry authorities discussing the emerging industry include a partner from venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers.
