The Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force will kick off the spring Click It or Ticket campaign by conducting a seatbelt checkpoint in Morrisville on Monday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The checkpoint will be conducted on Evans Rd. near Aviation Pkwy. The "Click It or Ticket" checkpoint's purpose is to crack down on motorists who are not wearing their seat belts.
The Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force is comprised of representatives from the majority of the law enforcement agencies located in Wake County. The purpose of the task force is to afford agencies the opportunity to participate in campaigns, throughout the year, that focus on improving traffic safety in the county. These efforts will concentrate on DWI enforcement, speed enforcement, seat belt enforcement, and other traffic safety initiatives.
In 2008, 484 unbuckled motorists died in North Carolina. In an effort to combat this issue, the Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force is supporting an aggressive state-wide "Click It or Ticket" seat belt enforcement campaign from May 18 through May 31.
In 2008, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that North Carolina's seat belt usage rate was 89.8 percent, its highest rate ever. The state's usage rate was 65 percent when "Click It or Ticket" started 16 years ago

In addition to the seatbelt checkpoint, the task force will be conducting night time checkpoints on Frid ay, May 22 in Garner and on Saturday, May 30 in Apex.
