The Western Area Plan is complete and the public was able to get an in-depth look at the project Monday.
The Western Area Plan is a detailed outline for expansion from the area west of the future I-540 to south of Green Level West Road and one mile south of U.S. One to the Chatham County line.
Land Design, the contractors working with the town, presented the final plan to the Apex Planning Board and the public Monday.
Members of the board and the public were able to make comments on the presentation before it was unanimously approved by the group.
Board Member Dianne Khin said the plan has been six months in the making.
"This is the culmination," Khin said. "They put it into the brochure format and it's the first time the public has been able to read the text that goes along with the maps. The maps that were the same is at the last workshop."
A big crowd showed up at the last public hearing in January and Khin said the board and the public in attendance were happy with the results.
The final decision will be made by the town council at a meeting on June 17.
