Triangle music lovers are invited to sit back and relax this weekend during two free concerts at Cary's Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park, 801 High House Road, featuring the Triangle Brass Band on Saturday, June 6 at 7 p.m. and the Triangle Wind Ensemble (TWE) on Sunday, June 7 at 6 p.m. The concerts are part of the Town's annual Summer Sertoma Series that features the best in free, live, outdoor entertainment.
The Triangle Brass Band is a group of 38 brass and percussionists from the Research Triangle Park area. Members of the band are selected by audition, and come from a variety of backgrounds, including school band directors, college faculty, physicians, lawyers, computer programmers and carpenters, to name a few. The band was formed in 1986 as a joint venture of the A.J. Fletcher Foundation and Capitol Broadcasting Company of Raleigh.
The Triangle Wind Ensemble was founded in 1999 to provide the area's most talented adult amateur wind and percussion instrumentalists with the very best performance opportunities. TWE's outstanding performances and innovative programming have earned the ensemble an outstanding reputation throughout North Carolina. The ensemble performs six to seven concerts each year throughout the Triangle and maintains a commitment to collaborative efforts with local school music programs and other community ensembles.
"Bring the entire family out to Bond Park for great times with great people in the great outdoors," said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.
Also, guests are invited to return to the Amphitheatre for more performances by the Triangle Brass Band as part of the series on June 27 and July 18.
