North Carolina energy officials are holding workshops around the state to show local government and school officials how to apply for a share of more than $58 million in federal stimulus funds.
The first daylong workshop was Tuesday in Tarboro. Workshops are scheduled through June 29 and most are held at local community colleges.
About $21 million of the funds have been designated for energy efficiency and conservation projects in small communities and other state and local agencies. Some $37 million is designated for larger cities and counties and the Cherokee Indian reservation.
