Cumberland County Sheriff's Detectives have charged a school employee with paying a student for sexual favors.
Jeffery Brent Godwin, Sr., of 1503 Deep Creek Road, Fayetteville works in the mailroom of the Cumberland County School System's headquarters on Gillespie Street.
Investigators say Godwin would pick up his 15-year-old victim at her home and drive to a local motel. The victim says Godwin would pay her to have sex with him. The girl also says she had sex with Godwin in his truck at a remote location in the county. The encounters allegedly began in December 2007 and continued into the spring of 2009.
Godwin is charged with two counts of statutory rape, two counts of first degree kidnapping, two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and five counts of facilitating the prostitution of a minor.
He is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $110,000 bond.
A first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16 at 2:30 p.m. in the Detention Center Courtroom.

Second arrest of school employee a week for sexual offense of student and a 3-year old little girl. Sounds problematic. Perhaps the students need more than sex education and rules preventing school bullies; they need to learn how to report sexual abuse without fear !
