The N.C. Department of Transportation is putting economic recovery dollars to work in Wake County to rehabilitate 5.6 miles of I-440 from Wade Avenue to Wake Forest Road in Raleigh beginning Monday, June 29, weather permitting.
The $3.6 million contract was awarded to Rea Contracting, LLC of Raleigh. Work is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 30.
Work will include milling, resurfacing and shoulder construction. The project also includes work on the ramps at the Six Forks Road, Glenwood Avenue and Lake Boone Trail exits.
Lanes can only be closed at night from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., with at least one lane of traffic open at all times.
