Randall C. "Randy" Ramsey of Beaufort, N.C., founder, president and CEO of Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales, has been appointed to the North Carolina State University Board of Trustees by Gov. Bev Perdue.
Perdue also reappointed Norris Tolson to the board. Tolson's appointment will fill the vacancy left by former Board Chairman McQueen Campbell.
Campbell resigned earlier this year after indications that he may have been involved in the hiring of former state first lady Mary Easley, who was later promoted and given a salary of $170,000.
Campbell, who was appointed to the board by Gov. Mike Easley, said he had told Chancelllor James Oblinger that Easley was looking for work.
Larry Nielsen, then interim provost, then hired Easley. Both Oblinger and Nielsen have since resigned.
Ramsey will succeed Bob Mattocks, whose term on the board ends June 30.
An active member of numerous local and regional boards, Ramsey has served on the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament's Board since 1983, serving as president in 2003 and 2004. He also serves on the board of the North Carolina Manufacturer's Association.
Ramsey serves as vice president of the NC State Student Aid Association, is a current member of the NC State Alumni Association, the State Club and the NC State Council on Athletics.
The board of trustees is composed of 13 members: eight elected by the UNC Board of Governors, four appointed by the governor and the president of the student body.

This lady was fired because of a free plane ride and a candy bar. Most of the people who has a job is hired the same way that Mary Easley was hired. At least she was doing a good job. Bev got yall gazing at the "pretty lights" as she takes advantage of the people of North Carolina. If anyone should be fired it should be her for being hired under false pretense.
