The city of Raleigh has finally joined the other animal friendly cities across the United States by passing the Anti-Tethering Law. The law goes into effect tomorrow, July 1st, and will not allow people to tether their dogs for longer than a three (3) hour period during a 24 hour stretch.
The city will be on the look out for individuals who do not follow the law. I would imagine they will be highly dependent on all of us to report offenders. The violators can be fined up to $100/day and could be charged with a misdemeanor. To report anyone who you think is an offender, you can call the Raleigh police dispatch at (919) 831-6311 to initiate the investigation process.

Do you think the fine is steep enough?

I hope the animal shelters are ready for hundreds of animals to be turned in today!!!!!!!!!! You animal rights people are OUT OF CONTROL! Now these poor animals are going to be killed - my dog was made to be put in a pin instead of his chain - AND HE HATES IT!!!!!!!! He would rather be on his chain (which was about 40 feet long) than in a box that is 10X12!
