The city of Raleigh has finally joined the other animal friendly cities across the United States by passing the Anti-Tethering Law. The law goes into effect tomorrow, July 1st, and will not allow people to tether their dogs for longer than a three (3) hour period during a 24 hour stretch.
The city will be on the look out for individuals who do not follow the law. I would imagine they will be highly dependent on all of us to report offenders. The violators can be fined up to $100/day and could be charged with a misdemeanor. To report anyone who you think is an offender, you can call the Raleigh police dispatch at (919) 831-6311 to initiate the investigation process.

Do you think the fine is steep enough?
