Town Proposes Nuisance Animal Ordinance

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. -

The Town of Knightdale wants to hear from residents about a proposed nuisance animal ordinance.

The proposed ordinance would require dogs to be on a leash when off the owner's property. Female dogs must be in a secure enclosure when in heat. And dogs will not be able to bark, whine, or howl for periods exceeding 10 minutes.

Pet owners could be fined as much as $50 per day for each violation.

A public hearing is scheduled for tonight at Town Hall at 7 p.m.
