Michael L. Roberts to run for the At-large Morrisville Council Member seat
MORRISVILLE—Michael L. Roberts filed for the at-large seat on the Morrisville Town Council, he announced today. Roberts has been actively engaged in Town activities since 2004 and at the encouragement of family, friends and neighbors he has decided to contest this seat.Roberts currently works as a Sr. Project Manager for a financial services company in RTP and he is a retired U.S. Navy veteran with over 20 years of service. For the past four years he has served on Morrisville's Planning and Zoning Board where he is now Vice-Chair. In addition, he was on the town's Environmental & Recycling Advisory Committee from its inception in 2004 through 2008 where he served as Vice Chair and eventually Chair.Roberts is a former PTA president and has been serving as president of the Ridgemont Homeowners Association since 2006. He also serves as the Chair of an international non-profit.Roberts has been married to his wife Sandra for 25 years. They have one daughter who was a 2005 graduate of Green Hope High School. Over the past couple of years, Roberts championed road projects and school bus safety issues to help improve the quality of life in Morrisville. Most notably were the improvements to the intersection of Morrisville-Carpenter Road and NC 54 and working with the Town Council and Wake County School Board to move dangerous bus stops off of Morrisville-Carpenter Road. "Michael was instrumental in helping to move dangerous bus stops off of Morrisville-Carpenter Road and I am glad he is running" said friend and neighbor Amer Malik.
"As an involved member of my community, I am ready to take my service to the next level and provide the effective leadership everyone expects from their Council members," Roberts concluded.
