CARY, N.C. -
A North Carolina teenager accused of attacking a couple in their 60s and raping the wife has been sentenced to at least 35 years in prison.
WRAL-TV reported Monday that 18-year-old Gavin John Clevesy pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual offense, first-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping, burglary and assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill.
Prosecutors said Clevesy forced his way into the couple's Cary home in September 2008, attacked the 67-year-old husband with a ceramic statue before the 66-year-old wife escaped outside. Clevesy later found the woman and raped her.
Clevesy's attorney said his client was "extremely intoxicated" and sorry for his actions.
