CONTEST RETURNS IN SEARCH OF TRIANGLE'S FUNNIEST ACCOUNTANTJUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT BENEFIT ALSO A CRASH COURSE IN TEAM BUILDING, NETWORKING SKILLS(RALEIGH) -- Who needs a laugh in this day and age more than the accountants among us? Number-crunchers get a chance to lighten up -- and help a great cause -- as the Second Annual Search for the Triangle's Funniest Accountant gears up for its big showcase, Oct. 27, at Goodnight's Comedy Club in Raleigh. The funny and fearless can sign up through Sept. 15. Proceeds go to Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina. Participants, meanwhile, will benefit from the free comedy clinic available before the show, and organizations that bring groups of staff will find the event to be a grin-inducing team-building experience."Our search isn't really for the next Robin Williams, it's for the pocket protector-wearing men and women who can poke a little fun at the world and, in the process, bring us all together," says Brad Barbour of Accountants One. "If, incidentally, a Sarbanes-Oxley quip leaves you in stitches, all the better." The popular competition is an offshoot of the Accountants Are Funny Too (AAFT) coalition (www.accountantsarefunnytoo.com), which seeks to establish that a 'bean-counter' is more than just another poker face (not that there's anything wrong with that). The Triangle winner will head to Atlanta to compete in Accountants One’s Search for the South’s Funniest Accountant on Nov. 12. Grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Las Vegas and two runners-up will also receive special prizes. All participants are invited to join a free comedy bootcamp led by Brad Reeder, co-owner of Goodnight's and a 20 year comic veteran (in other words, he can make anybody funny).WHAT: Second Annual Search for the Triangle's Funniest AccountantWHEN: Oct. 27, 2009HOW: Sign up through Sept. 15 by contacting Brad Barbour (bradbarbour@accountantsone.com).
