RALEIGH, N.C. -

A piece of Raleigh's history was preserved last week when Raleigh-based Legacy Construction Group bought the historic Bailey-Gallant house.

Located at 507 N. Blount Street, the home is part of a major community revitalization effort on one of downtown Raleigh's most prestigious streets.

Built circa 1898 for C.T. Bailey Jr., a N.C. delegate to the 1904 Republican National Convention, the 110-year-old house was one of six historic homes for sale in Blount Street Commons.

"Buyers are finding that now is the time to take part in an extraordinarily rare opportunity in Blount Street Commons, a community rich in architecture and Southern charm," commented LNR Regional President David Welch. "Adjacent to the Burning Coal Theater, and blocks from the Governor's Mansion and state capitol - Blount Street Commons is the perfect opportunity to live, work and play in downtown Raleigh."

Developed by LNR Property Corporation, Blount Street Commons is a unique mix of historic homes, live-work condominiums, Carriage Homes and Row Homes. Designed as a pedestrian community with neighborhood parks, restaurants and cafes, the community is an ideal destination for those seeking to live in an upscale, urban environment.

"As lifelong Raleigh residents, it was important that our ‘new' primary office take part in downtown Raleigh's revitalization," said Mark Blankinship, president of Legacy Construction Group. "We could not think of a better opportunity than the one presented by Blount Street Commons. The Bailey-Gallant house is one of several rare gems found on Blount St., a street full of historic opportunities."

About Blount Street Commons: Blount Street Commons is a unique revitalization project currently underway in a quaint, historic section of downtown Raleigh. During its heyday at the turn of the century, Blount Street was one of the premier addresses in Raleigh.

LNR Property Corporation, a nationally-recognized developer, is creating a 21-acre neighborhood in the Blount Street historic district that will offer an upscale, urban lifestyle. Residents can choose from a wide range of home styles that are reminiscent of turn of the century architecture including Row Homes, Carriage Homes, live/work condominiums, garden flats, urban lofts, stacked town homes and custom home sites. Also available are a select few historic homes built in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

This pedestrian-friendly community will give residents and visitors the opportunity to walk to restaurants, parks, shops, grocery stores and other retail businesses.
