RALEIGH, N.C. -

The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the exit ramp from I-40 West to the I-440 Outer Beltline in Wake County, Aug. 17, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., weather permitting.

Motorists traveling I-40 West needing to access the I-440 Outer Beltline should use the following signed detour:
I-40 West to Exit 300A (Rock Quarry Road) to I-40 East/I-440 Outer Beltline

The closure is necessary as a part of the project to resurface the roadway.

Construction industry analysis shows each dollar invested in transportation trickles down into the economy six times, and according to the Federal Highway Administration, every $1 million spent on transportation creates 30 jobs.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Plan ahead before driving by visiting the NCDOT Traveler Information Management website or call 511, the state's free travel information line for current travel conditions.
