CLAYTON, N.C. -

A man wanted in a weekend shooting has turned himself in, police said Tuesday.

Kenneth Aubrey Reed, voluntarily surrendered to Clayton Police Tuesday. He is now confined in the Johnston County Jail in lieu of $40,000 secured bond.

Reed, 18, has been charged with felonious Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.

Police said several shots were fired from a handgun at about 11 p.m. Saturday. The shots occurred during a fight between two people in the back parking lot at Clayton Fitness, where a private birthday party was taking place.

The suspect and victim had already gone. An empty car in the lot was struck and damaged by a bullet.

A few minutes later, Clayton EMS was called to 312 E. Hinton Street where 19-year-old Nathaniel Douglas Liles, Jr. was found injured with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to Wake Med in Raleigh for treatment.

Liles reported that he was actually shot at Clayton Fitness, but friends had driven him to Hinton Street before calling for help.
