RALEIGH, N.C. -

***WARNING*** The contents of the 911 call may be disturbing to some readers.

Flowers, stuffed animals and candles have been placed at a makeshift memorial for the young girl killed after getting off the school bus in Raleigh Wednesday.

Approximately 40 people showed up to pay their resepects to Ashley Ramos-Hernandez.

The accident occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Hills and Hillock Drives.

Authorities say Ramos-Hernandez was taken to WakeMed where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the car that struck the girl was 83-year-old Geraldine Baron Deitz of Raleigh. Raleigh Police charged Deitz with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and passing a stopped school bus.

Deitz was traveling east on North Hills Drive when she says she noticed the school bus stopped in the opposing lane, the police reports says. Deitz told police that the bus's warning lights and signs were not completely activated, so she continued on North Hills Drive after initially coming to a stop.

After realizing that the bus was not turning onto Hillock Drive, Deitz proceeded forward when she heard a "thud," the police reports says.

Witnesses on the scene told police that Deitz "disregarded the school bus's signals and markers that were appropriately activated when the children on the bus were attempting to cross North Hills Drive."

Michael Evans with Wake County Public Schools says the girl was a student at Green Elementary School. The school will have grief counselors on hand tomorrow.

Had this girl been other than a minority {Hispanic}the woman would have been charged with felony murder by vehicle. It's sad that the Raleigh police dept charged her with a misdemeanor. This is an example of what they think about a minority persons life!

I wonder if Geraldine Baron Deitz of Raleigh showed any type of remorse? It sounds like she already lied about the lights and the stop sign on the bus. And how the raleigh police department, only charged this killer with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and passing a stopped school bus is crazy. Poor Ashley had her whole life ahead of her. My prayers go out to Ashley's family..

I think that when people reach a certain age in their life that law enforcement should do a complence test on their reflects and sight and driving skills. It is so sad what happen to the 6 yr old.
