For the second day, personnel from the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office, a search and rescue team from the Johnston County Sheriff's Office, and the State Bureau of Investigation searched the woods near Seven Bridges Road in rural Edgecombe County.

That's near where the bodies of six women have been found over the past four years.

Three other women from Rocky Mount are missing.

Authorities have not said what they are looking for and if it's connected to the murder investigations.

That has people who live here on edge.

"You don't want to think that there's a lot of people getting murdered around where you stay at and then to have it where people think there might be a possible serial killer. It's all kind of overwhelming," said Jamal Whitaker, who lives on Seven Bridges Road.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office has not said if the murders are connected.

Last week, they arrested Antwon Pittman and charged him with the murder of one of the women, Tahara Nicholson.

Whitaker says Seven Bridges Road is a quite road where many people are family. And they won't be at ease until they get answers.

"We should know more than having to look on the news and understand like that. I wish that the police would come to the community and talk to us," he said.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office has not commented on the search. The Johnston County Sheriff's Office says its team completed its task and will not return to the area Friday.
