The DMV's phone monitor system is going to be scrutinized by federal investigators.
According to a subpoena, a DMV tech support analyst is expected to appear before a federal grand jury Wednesday.
This same jury has been looking into the case of former Gov. Mike Easley.
It's not clear if this latest subpoena is related to the overall case into whether Easley abused his powers while in office.
Former DMV commissioner George Tatum showed up at the federal courthouse last month as investigators looked into the DMV's phone monitor system.
Investigators want documentation of communications from Tatum and four other former DMV employees. Tatum is linked to the investigation because in 2007 he dismissed a citation that could have shut down an inspection station owned by McQueen Campbell who flew the Easleys in his private plane. Campbell has also been subpoenaed in the investigation.
