Knightdale High School's Smart Lunch program has been suspended indefinitely after a fight broke out in the cafeteria Wednesday morning.
According to a press release, Public Safety Officers were assigned to the school to monitor its Smart Lunch program. Shortly before 10:30 a.m. an altercation between 16-year-old Lyndon Ore and 17-year-old Printis Wilkins occurred.
During the fight, several other altercations occurred, requiring officers to dispatch back-up assistance through emergency dispatchers.
About 40 officers from the State Highway Patrol, Wake County Sheriff's Office, Wendell Police, Zebulon Police, and agents from the Alcohol and Beverages Commission responded to the school.
The situation was quickly brought under control without major personal injury or property damage. According to officials, one officer did sprain his thumb while trying to take someone in custody.
Ore and Wilkins were charged with affray and disorderly conduct. Darren Strawder, 18 was arrested for assault on a government official and 17-year-old Justin Brown was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
Due to these incidents, school officials ended lunch early on Wednesday and indefinitely suspended their Smart Lunch program.

Really? Thank you so much for coming to the aid of your fellow classmates and letting us know "that is not right to sit up der and judge.." and we never would have known that "these three boys they is very smart".. thank you so much. The students that posted these comments are such great products of redneck ghetto country schools. I'm sure your "mamma" or "me maw" or whatever genetic screw up you call your mother is so proud. I am tired of ignorant pieces of trash, who will never amount to anything, rushing to the aid of their socially misplaced friends. Seriously focus on your own education and do not get caught up with stupid drama. Wow, I am really scared that these kids are the future of our country. All is not lost, "so i keep them three in my prays and everything is going to get better i just feel it." Yo dog now i gots to go study-n on my Chinese yo... word.

40 police officers to the scene from multiple agencies because two kids got into a fight? I don't mean to minimize the danger here, because this could be a dangerous situation, but with no mention of gangs, weapons or anything, this seems to be a school yard fight. Now these kids are going to have to get criminal lawyers and all to fight off the charges. A bit overblown?

You"re part of the bleeding hearts that took corporal punishment out of school. They have nothing to fear.Used to be upper classmen,a couple coaches and a few big teachers took care of the problem and believe me.you did"nt want to mess with them.and it was over.Sometimes take them to the gym and give them boxing gloves one on one, they did"nt have a chance to involve half the school.God bless our teachers.

please explain "these animals" & "They are never going to amount to nothing but prisoners"
By ronnie on 09/17 06:45 PM
Its a shame these animals are in are school systems. They are never going to amount to nothing but prisoners. I feel sorry for all the kids that had to witness this kind of violence. And could have been injured in the Smart Lunch Program.
