RALEIGH, N.C. -
After being delayed twice, concrete testing on I-540 is set to begin tonight.
The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close lanes on I-540 East and West between U.S. 64 Business and Triangle Town Boulevard overnight.
From 9 a.m. until 5 a.m. technicians will check the depth of steel reinforcement bars buried in concrete that connect the traffic lanes.
The project was originally set to begin September 23 but was delayed due to weather conditions. Then on Sept. 28, a software glitch delayed the construction.
Work is scheduled to be complete by Oct. 10.
