A North Carolina university will activate sirens on its campus as part of the testing of its mass emergency notification system.
Duke University will activate the sirens on Wednesday. Aaron Graves, the school's associate vice president of campus safety and security, says the activation isn't a drill.
Graves says the test is a reminder to students, faculty and staff about how they would be notified in the case of an emergency, such as a tornado or a shooting.
The test will begin at 10 a.m. when nine outdoor warning sirens are activated, followed by a recorded test message.
