Swagger Gifts Announces Life Experiences, Inc. as 2009 Holiday Open House Preview Party Beneficiary

Local retailer helps improve year-end fundraising potential for the local non-profit with exclusive holiday shopping preview event. ________________________________________

(Cary, NC)—Mandy Becker, owner of Swagger Gifts (http://www.SwaggerGifts.com), has announced that the popular gift and decorative accessories retail boutique will be supporting Cary, NC non-profit, Life Experiences, Inc. (http://www.LifeExperiences.org/) during its annual Holiday Open House Preview Party.

The Holiday Open House Preview Party is a signature event at Swagger Gifts, where owner Mandy Kratus Becker invites her customers to make suggestions about what charity they should partner with. “We were very excited to have so many nominations for charities for our Open House this year,” says Becker. “Of course, that just made it harder to choose because they all did such wonderful things for our community! However, when I spoke with Life Experiences, Inc and found out more about their organization, I felt compelled to choose them as our partner this year. Cary is very fortunate to have a place like Life Experiences where our adults with developmental disabilities can have a fulfilling employment opportunity.”

Life Experiences is in the business of helping adults with disabilities help themselves. Life Experiences was formed in an attempt to mesh social and business goals into one environment for adults with disabilities in Wake County. Incorporated in 1978, the non-profit organization offers a choice of satisfying work experiences for adults with varying disabilities and at the same time allows those adults the self-esteem of earning a wage for their work. The organization depends on the donations of businesses and individuals. With such support, they are not only able to assist area individuals who strongly desire to work in a program such as theirs, but are also able to expand the opportunity to more people.

“I am thrilled that Swagger has chosen Life Experiences to be the charity for their Open House Preview Night,” notes Mary Madenspacher, executive director of Life Experience. “Life Experiences has been in the Cary community helping people with developmental disabilities for over 30 years. The Holiday Open House Preview Party is scheduled to be held on Thursday, November 5th, from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at Swagger Gifts – located at 2425 Kildaire Road – in Cary’s Lochmere Pavilion. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. 100% of the ticket sales and 10% of the store sales during the event will be donated to Life Experiences. Last year, Swagger Gifts raised over $1,300 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s School & Youth programs during the Holiday Open House Preview Party event. They are hoping to meet, or exceed, the same level of support this year.
