WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -

The local Better Business Bureau is warning about a new internet work-at-home scam.

This latest threat comes from a Raleigh-based company called Eco Venture Group.

Customers sign up to receive materials that will show them how to work at home.

After customers provide their credit card numbers to cover shipping costs, they're billed much more than they agreed to.

Sometimes they receive fraudulent charges from Web sites they never visited.

BBB experts said usually that money is gone for good.

"Of course the better business bureau can't work with the company to seek a resolution if they're not answering the complaints," Beverly Baskin, President of the Eastern North Carolina BBB, said. "The likelihood of consumers getting their money back is not very good."

Baskin suggests consumers who pay with a credit card call their credit company to try and get some of the charges reversed.

Experts also said consumers should research a company before entering into an agreement.

You can find tips about dealing with the work-at-home scams from the North Carolina Attorney General.

It's frustrating for many of us running smaller sites that have helped thousands of people file complaints against these types of companies to see not only the scams continue, but to see the same people coming and asking if a company is a reputable or not, even though it's exactly the same as another company they have just asked about. And what's surprising is that often they appear to be otherwise highly intelligent people. Paul Schlegel Founder, WorkAtHomeTruth.com

For the past ten years off and on, I have studied internet marketing. It was not until last year that I started to actively build my business online. It has required many hours, due to the fact that I learned on my own. Reading more e-books than I care to mention and listening to weekly webinars, has been my life for the past year. Having a coach to help me walk through the process, would have shaved off nine months of not making money

This is terrible that this company scammed people like this. I have worked from home for more than 10 years with legitimate companies. Stay-Home-Income.com has over 100 companies that hire home workers listed on its site like Convergys, Hilton, VIP Desk, West. It's completely FREE. No strings or scams. The companies hire employees.
