APEX, N.C. -

An Apex family saved the lives of seven little puppies.

The Canney family decided to rescue the puppies from the Harnett County Animal Shelter last week after they learned that the dogs would be euthanized.

They have found a home for two of the dogs but are looking for help from the community to place the others. They believe the dogs are about six weeks old and are a Lab Mix.

Sam Canny, 11, said he feels good about saving the animals.

"I think it would be good for people to try and save these animals. I know they can't all be saved but it would be good if they tried," Sam said.

Sam's brother Joseph, 9, said everyone should help the cause.

"You can't do everything but everyone can do something," Joseph said.

The Harnett County Animal Shelter keeps dogs and other animals for about a week after they come to the shelter before they are euthanized because of overcrowding at the facility.

Great point Kev! I also want to put in a plug for Marleys Cat Tails. Someone sent them an email about the rescue and they had people from all over calling and emailing and bringing food, help, etc. I had 2 volunteers at my house within hours to foster 3 of them. They have helped us with advise in treating the sick ones, provided vet care for one, etc. they ROCK! check them out at marleyfund.org!

Way to go! If we can't take care of the most helpless creatures, how can we take care of each other?
