The Town of Chapel Hill says efforts are underway to make sure the town is prepared for Hurricane Hanna.
According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm could bring 4 to 5 inches of rain and 40-plus mph winds to Chapel Hill and surrounding areas.
"Town Emergency Operations Center will be activated if necessary with key staff from the major operations departments coordinating Town resources and emergency recovery efforts," stated a release from the Town.
Chapel Hill Transit is scheduled to run regular Saturday service. Should streets become impassable due to flooding or downed trees, detour routes will be established.
