CARY, N.C. -

The Town of Cary is encouraging citizens to secure carts and other light-weight items in preparations for the storm.

"While nearly every type of significant weather event includes some degree of uncertainty, the Town of Cary is prepared for Hanna," said Town of Cary Deputy Fire Chief Jay Poole, who helps oversee the Town's emergency management efforts. "We encourage our citizens to complete any last minute tasks so that they will also be prepared, especially with several storms potentially following Hanna in the coming days."

Residents should bring in solid waste carts, recycling bins, and other light-weight items early this evening to avoid them from becoming projectiles.

As is always the case in severe weather events, the Town is reminding citizens to call (919) 469-4090 for storm-related, non-emergency issues. Please do not call 911 unless there is an emergency posing an immediate threat to life, health, or property.

The Town of Cary's Great Big One concert scheduled for Saturday, September 6 at Sertoma Amphitheatre has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 5 at 3 p.m. However, the Carolina RailHawks game against Charleston Battery on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. will be played as scheduled at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Persons with questions regarding Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources sports activities should call the weather line at (919) 319-4500 x 505. For all other programs, events or PRCR classes, please contact the facility where the class or event is being held.

Cary's C-Tran door-to-door and fixed route services continue to operate on normal schedule. If you have questions regarding schedules in case of inclement weather, please call C-Tran at (919) 481-2020 to confirm that service will be available.

Visit the Town's Severe Weather page for more information.
