There's no change in the drought in the Raleigh area, but Tropical Storm Hanna has certainly raised the water levels in area lakes, if only temporarily.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Tuesday that Falls Lake was nearly 6 feet above normal after the storm moved through. That's quite a change from the dry, cracked bottom of the lake visible in many areas a year ago.
A new report on the drought status is expected Thursday.
Jordan Lake was also 6 feet above normal Monday. Orange County's reservoirs were 95 percent full, up from 79 percent.
Woody Yonts with the North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council says it's unclear how much of the groundwater supply was recharged.
The Army Corps of Engineers has delayed the release of water from Falls Lake, to allow the Neuse River to recede.

You guys need to find another drum to beat. The drought has been overplayed. Please note rainfall actual versus normal for the year. Please note the past two year amount, etc. Do some research will you. Quit repeating what the politicians tell you - perhaps readership will grow and you can hire back some reporters.
