Cam Ward looks even slimmer in black.
The Carolina goalie who lost 20 pounds a year ago was on hand Wednesday to model the Hurricanes' new alternate uniforms they will wear for 15 home games this season.
The all-black duds feature on the chest the team's secondary logo - a hockey stick with a waving storm flag on top of a triangle to represent the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. Carolina's primary, circular logo is stitched in silver on the shoulders.
The uniforms will make their debut Oct. 13 when the Hurricanes play Stanley Cup champion Detroit. View schedule of dates the Hurricanes will wear the jersey.
Carolina has long considered adding a black jersey. The team planned to introduce a third uniform last year, but that was delayed because the NHL adopted Reebok's sleeker uniform design for the league.
