Police arrested a Fuquay-Varina man Wednesday after school Fuquay-Varina High School administrators called to report weapons in his vehicle.
Police said Joseph P. Aprea was in the carpool line to pick someone up from school. In his vehicle he had a 12-gauge shotgun displayed on a gun rack inside the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle another weapon, a .22 caliber rifle was located. Also located were 49 - 12 gauge shotgun shells and what appeared to be a 5 ½ inch hunting knife and two box cutters.
Police said there were no calls of any type of danger to the high school other than the observation of a weapon on campus.
Aprea was arrested and transported to the Wake County jail without incident. He was charged with two counts of Felony Possession of a Weapon on School property and two count of Misdemeanor Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.
